"What If Your Marriage Is BAD?" by Dr. Kim

What if you are in a bad marriage?  Things are just not working out.  Maybe you have been in this bad marriage for a long time.  You may feel that you have tried and tried and your spouse just isn’t putting in the effort.  You are ready to give up.  Guess what?  You are not alone.  Many that have great dreams as they begin married life together find themselves ready to get out because none of the dreams have come true.

As a counselor. I hear these bad marriage stories often.  Before you give up, here are some things that I would suggest.

Together talk to a Christian counselor or a pastor.  Make sure that whoever you talk to believes in helping couples save their marriages.

  1. Do what the counselor tells you to do.
  2. If there are people in your life that do not support your marraige, stay away from them.
  3. Have a date.  Commit to trying to have fun together.  You must have been able to do this at some point or you probably would not have gotten married.  I recently talked to a struggling couple that used to love to go bowling together when they were dating.  They had not bowled once since they got married.  Guess what I asked them to do?  Yes, they went bowling.
  4. You may have never thought about adding God into your marriage.  A lot of couples that I know have seen their marriages turn around by together asking God  to help them to be a better husband and a better wife.  Consider this.

No matter where you are, It is worth trying one more time.  Will you commit to take step one today?
